We really enjoyed our time at Old Town Glassworks. Matthew was a excellent both as a historian of the business and as an instructor. We are very pleased with our etched glasses and it is great to see such an environmentally conscious business! Had a really fun and interesting experience at this workshop, and it was awesome to leave with a custom souvenir to take home and be proud of. You get to make your own cup, mug, or vase and design your own glass etching. It was easy to follow along - you just choose your stencils and decide how you want to place them on the glass. Our instructor, Matthew, was always there to guide us and was super encouraging. He also gave me the freedom to try out some new designs, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The shop area also had some amazing designs for purchase and extra souvenirs as well!Posted on E PTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the opportunity to participate in the glass workshop while in Yellowknife and are so glad we did. The workshop was informative, interesting, and overall a lot of fun. Creating our own glass pieces was a great experience, and they make wonderful souvenirs to take home. The staff are incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. We would definitely recommend this experience.Posted on Joe CTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is an excellent place to visit if you want to take a break from winter activities in Yellowknife. There is a shop at front you can buy very nice glasses but also a workshop to attend to decorate your own. We had so much fun at the workshop that we made two extra glasses. The sandblasting technique is not difficult to master. Lots of design to choose from. The owner Matthew is super friendly and with lots of patience to teach you how to make a professional looking product. Well worth the price we paid. Highly recommended. Remember to book ahead of time.Posted on Lucy ShawTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Heard great things about it and wow what a lovely experience! Matthew is enthusiastic and engaging and is really hoping to get across the work of his 4 Rs instead with RETHINK being the key 4th! His stories of rethinking older “junk” and making it into a useful product is inspiring. He has many fun antidotes of his time in Old Town. We had a fabulous souvenir to take home and spend a lovely afternoon creating. Matthew is patient and you can buy more than one item if you like! Great fun!Posted on Sandy StucklessTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing experience!Posted on Khalesah AlliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My sisters and I did the glass workshop with Matthew which was an amazing experience that was both educational and creative. Matthew is an astounding inventor and his makeshift machines are awe-worthy. He guided us through the design process very patiently and gave us tips and tricks to get the best results. There are so many stencil designs to choose from and you can mix and match them to be as creative as you’d like. There are a variety of glass objects to select from including vases, tall and short glasses, and soap dispensers. Their main office also has ready made glass pieces and various artwork available for purchase as well. We had a great time and made the perfect souvenir to take home!Posted on Janis KudlacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
